Where to Get Help in Burlington
March 24, 2020

Dear Friends,

As I have often said, Burlington is a caring and compassionate community and that has not changed through the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Many people have contacted my office and shared heartwarming stories on how they helped their elderly neighbours pick up groceries or sharing essentials with a casual delivery to a friend's door step.

It is through times as these that we are able to see past our differences and come together to achieve a collective good. This situation is unprecedented for Canadians but knowing that your neighbours and fellow residents of Burlington are prepared to step up and help one another out is a cause for recognition.

Thank you to everyone in our community. From our heroic first responders keeping us safe to those working extra diligently in our hospitals and medical facilities, to those taking some time out of their days to help their friends and neighbours get by in this difficult time. We need each other now more than ever to get through this and if the last couple weeks have demonstrated anything, it is that we shall overcome this challenge.

Below, you will find a list of services available in the community if you need help or if you want to help out. In this time of physical distancing, it is more important than ever that we stay socially connected on-line and on the phone. Even if you can't physically go out and volunteer your services, please consider making a donation to one of our many frontline organizations who are helping the most vulnerable in our community.

Please share these resources with anyone who you think could use them. This information will be on my website. If I've missed any organizations, please just send me an e-mail and I will be happy to add them. I wanted to share with you all the hard work that is taking place in our community as a resource for those who might need some help in getting food or essential supplies, or if you are looking to help out your neighbours by providing some essential items that you can spare.  It was great to see a Burlington COVID-19 Facebook Group emerge to share food and essentials with one another.

Should anyone have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office. While we are presently closed to the public, you can still leave us a voicemail at (905)639-5757 or send me an email at [email protected].

Remember: if you have symptoms or have recently returned from abroad you must self-isolate for 14 days. We have the opportunity to make a difference and beat COVID-19, but only if all do our part.

Sincerely,

Hon. Karina Gould
