Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
Each year, during tax season, our office runs a Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. Located here in Burlington, the program offers tax assistance at no charge for constituents of a modest income, with a simple tax return.
The Tax Clinic is presently closed, but please stayed tuned for additional information about our Tax Clinic in early 2027.
What is considered a simple tax return?
Please note that your tax situation is not simple and you do not qualify for the CVITP if you:
- Are self-employed or have employment expenses
- Have business or rental income and expenses
- Have capital gains or losses
- Filed for bankruptcy
- Are completing a tax return for a deceased person
What will I need to bring to the CVITP?
If you are eligible to take part in a CVITP, make sure to bring:
- Tax information slip
- Notice of Assessment (NOA) from previous year
- Receipts (rent, property tax, donations, transportation, etc.)
- Social Insurance number
- Photo Identification
While our clinic is only open during tax season, some other clinics may offer tax filing services year-round. You can learn more about other Community Volunteer Income Tax Program clinics offered across Canada here.
