Today, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne presented the Government’s Budget 2026: Masters of Our Destiny.
This year’s budget comes at a time of global uncertainty and the continued impact of Trump’s tariffs on key sectors of the Canadian economy. Consequentially, many Canadians are feeling the pressure of rising food and fuel costs, namely as a result of the Trump administration’s war in Iran. This budget aims to focus on making daily life more affordable, while building a stronger and more self-reliant Canada for the years ahead.
For Burlington, many of the measures in Budget 2026 are a reflection of conversations I have had with many of you. From making housing more affordable, helping families keep more money in their pockets, to clean energy and infrastructure investments, this budget focuses on both affordability and creating opportunity.
As you review the budget, I welcome your thoughts and feedback.
With gratitude,
