As we continue to fight back against COVID-19’S second wave, it is important that we follow local public health guidelines and support one another.
It is also important to be thankful for those who have protected us in the past and those who are working hard right now to keep Canadians safe.
On November 11, we honoured the brave Canadians who served and continue to serve our country. Our veterans and service members have always shown immense bravery, and they continue to do so.
They are there for us when we face floods, fires or other natural disasters and they were there in long-term care facilities in Ontario and Quebec to protect the most vulnerable.
Our government will always be there to support our veterans, service workers and their families. It is important to recognize the impact that the pandemic has had on them, and the organizations that serve them.
This is why we created the Veterans Organizations Emergency Support Fund, to provide $20 million in new funding which will provide much needed support to non-profit and charitable veterans organizations.
Just as our country came together to fight in the two world wars, we must all come together to fight the current pandemic.
One of the things I cherish most about my time as MP is getting to know our Second World War veterans, including Jim Warford and Fred Davies, who shared their stories and experiences with me. It is my duty to carry on their memory and the memory of all those who served, and share it with future generations to ensure that we never forget.
